Day 16 (June 20, 2011)

In Edinburgh! It’s amazing, gorgeous and really just beyond description. Everywhere you look it is like living in a postcard!
Emily & I checked in to our hostel (quite a step up from the amsterdam one) and hit the town! for lunch! Then we went to the Castle for a few hours and St. Giles. We went to a nighttime ghost tour of the underground vaults that were once home to thousands of people in Edinburgh. It was pretty dreadfully creepy. Supposedly it is haunted by “the South Bridge entity” - a class four poltergeist…
There is also a little girl with a baby who apparently walks back and forth in one of the higher vaults, but fuck if i was looking for that.
We quickly discovered that edinburgh is somewhat lacking in late night foodstuff. We caught a meal at the not-quite-aptly named Pizza Paradise. While there we met a very friendly and interesting Englishman in town on business. He was wearing a Brooks & Dunn concert T and couldn’t believe we didn’t listen to Brad Paisley. We learned a lot about country music and rodeos. it was awesome. He says he and his wife met a coupke from Montana while vacationing in florida and now they visit the coupke all the time in Montana - doing super Montana-y type things. He also said he overheard Em & I talking, realized we were American and struck up a conversation with us as it “would just be so nice to talk to real people, Americans are just so friendly.” this statement made more since when i found out most of his US travels have been in the South and MidWest.
But a great night at any rate!

Day 13 (June 17,2011)

June 17th

Went to KesselsKramer  - we were quite late, but it turned out all right. The building which houses their Amsterdam office is incredible- an old church! It is just a treasure trove of delightful finds.  Visited the infamous la tortula that Nick has been touting. Had a great sandwich at Dab before heading over to our final organized museum tour- The Heineken Experience at the old Heineken Brewery. It was very cool, and it was nice to see a family business become a huge international brand, but still have humanity.
We got free beer and a lot of us picked up some souvenirs.  Jae, Emily, Summer and I  got 5E Italian for dinner and  back to the hotel  the majority of  us went down for our daily nap.

We showed Courtney’s friends a few places in Leideseplein, but the jetlag got to them, so Laura, Emily and I headed out for a rather adventurous Girls’ Night.

Day 12 (June 16, 2011)
